Job Overview
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated professional to fill the role of Assistant Director, Programs within our dynamic Programs team. Reporting to the Director of Leadership Development Programs, this position plays a vital role in the development, coordination, facilitation, and communication of initiatives designed to empower young individuals (ages 18-25) who are committed to enhancing, defending, and advancing democratic values.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the entire lifecycle of our leadership programs, encompassing outreach, application processes, program delivery, and evaluation.
- Engage with participants, alumni, community partners, and academic institutions to cultivate impactful and meaningful relationships.
- Facilitate meetings and events for diverse groups, ranging from intimate gatherings to large-scale events.
- Oversee the logistics of program activities, including outreach, marketing communications, and participant engagement.
- Contribute to curriculum development and the design of innovative programs, including pilot projects.
- Collaborate on fresh event concepts and speaker suggestions to elevate engagement and participation.
- Collect and analyze data to drive continuous improvement and ensure learning objectives are met.
- Maintain accurate records of all program activities while assisting in the creation of planning documents, such as briefings and slide presentations.
- Manage program data utilizing the organization's CRM system, ensuring meticulous tracking of attendance, feedback, and other pertinent data.
- Assist in planning both virtual and in-person events, including managing travel logistics and overseeing event details.
- Handle billing and invoicing tasks related to program expenses.
- Conduct outreach to community organizations and nurture relationships with youth leaders and campus groups.
- Lead and mentor seasonal interns and other program staff, fostering a supportive team environment.
Required Skills
- Exceptional organizational abilities with the capacity to manage both overarching goals and intricate details.
- Self-driven with a strong track record of achieving objectives and demonstrating proactive follow-through.
- Experience in budgeting and financial management, with a preference for prior familiarity in budget development.
- Proven expertise in project management, including both in-person and virtual program facilitation.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, complemented by an action-oriented approach.
- Strong interpersonal skills critical for building rapport with a diverse array of stakeholders.
- Experience supervising interns or staff, emphasizing mentorship and team development.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working with young individuals in educational, community engagement, or leadership programs.
- Knowledge of or experience in the non-partisan civic sector, demonstrating the capacity to engage individuals from varied backgrounds.
- Proficient in technology, including Microsoft and Google applications, CRM systems (Salesforce preferred), and online communication platforms (e.g., Zoom, Slack).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
